Surprises at every turn with this under-the-radar gem of a producer in Monforte d’Alba, one of the five grand crus in Barolo. It draws you in with notes of tart red cherries, unfiltered tobacco, black pepper and hints of vanilla that deepened into a rich nutty quality that, while common in white wine, is unexpected in a red. And then, a sweet barnyard funk emerges. Bright and vibrant with a creamy mouthfeel and delicious perfumed finish. Fans of The King should give this one a whirl. I think you’ll find it quite the trip..
