I want to bring this Saint Julien home to meet my mother, brother, even my father who left when I was eight. That’s how much I liked it. The wine opened up easily … to juicy plums and red cherries dipped in candy, rolled in chocolate syrup, buttered in cream and mixed, interestingly enough, with a smidgen of tar. Really smooth with bright acidity and a mid to long finish. Such ease and amiability is precious in a fussy uptight world like ours. For a while there, I was easy and amiable too … until my wine and dim sum ran out.
