My oh-so-retro find: A 1963 winter issue of Food & Wine magazine founded by legendary wine connoisseur and gourmet Andre L Simon, also founder of the prestigious International Wine & Food Society. Known for having declared:
“Wine makes every meal an occasion, every table more elegant, every day more civilized.”
He was also known for having declared:
“A man dies too young if he leaves any wine in his cellar.”
He practices what he preaches too – two magnums of Bordeaux were found in his cellar when he died at age 93, and one of them was a 1945 Latour. I should be so lucky.
