Picture a barnyard all covered in roses, candied cherries, and angel wings. If ever there were such a thing, Château Musar would be it.
This 18-year-old is surprisingly bright, youthful, and fresh ― almost like it was bottled just yesterday. A nose of cherries and dried apricots, with funky base notes of barnyard, which became more pronounced as the minutes ticked by.
On the palate, it was super smooth with a long finish. Beautiful, right to the last drop. So deliciously and distinctively funky. Although much less so than the 2000 I had a few months ago. That one nearly slayed me. I was blissfully incapacitated for a while there.
Love it or loathe it, you will always remember it. Far from boring, that’s for sure.
